Last week the Urban Paw team volunteered our time to give a little lovin' to the cats and dogs at the Best Friends Animal Society No Kill Los Angeles adoption center. Among the cuties patiently waiting for their forever homes was Mauri. This sweet boy acted as many shelter cats do when strangers come around. He was shy, skiddish and not very playful.
But after some patience, TLC and a little coaxing, Mauri finally came out of his shell and was ready to strut along the catwalk!
This is not the first transformation our team has seen while volunteering with shelter animals and will definitely not be the last. Every dog and cat adjusts to shelter life in different ways and volunteers can help make that transition easier. The shelter can be a noisy and scary place and a little love and attention could be the difference in helping a shelter pet open up and find its forever home. If you are interested in adopting Mauri, go visit him at NKLA where you can also learn more about volunteer opportunities!
